Selected Playlists To iPod v2.1

This script will copy the selected playlists, and the tracks contained in each, from your iTunes library to a mounted iPod. (Normally, you have to drag each playlist individually.) The iPod must be set to "Manually manage songs and videos".

  • Addresses issue whereby iTunes stalls, no files are copied
    Info:
  • build type: Universal Binary
  • written by Doug Adams
  • latest version posted: April 13, 2009

New iPod Playlist From Selection v3.2

Copy selected iTunes tracks, or the tracks of a selected iTunes playlist, to a new user-named iPod playlist. Works only with iPods set to "Manually manage music and videos", and very handily when assigned an iTunes Scripts Menu Shortcut. I use Control-Command-N.

    Latest version:
  • Works around phantom "Apple Event timed out" error dialog
  • v3.1:
  • Fixes intermittent copying issue
  • v3.0:
  • Select tracks or a playlist
  • Detects only iPods set to "Manually manage music and videos"
  • Performance finesses and fixes
  • Runs as universal binary

Rip To iPod v2.1

Rips each enabled (checkmarked) CD track to iTunes and immediately copies it to iPod, deletes the file, and removes the track from the iTunes library, giving the appearance of seamless CD-to-iPod importing. You can also change your encoder on-the-fly and your Preferences-set encoder will be restored after the rip. Requires that iPod be set to "Manually manage music and videos". iPods set to sync are ignored.

    Latest version:
  • Fixes intermittent copying issue
  • v2.0:
  • Runs as universal binary
  • Restores iPod free space-check
  • Updated obsolete code
  • Syntax finessings

Import iPod Audio Files v2.0

Select tracks on the iPod and then run this script to copy the files of the selected tracks from the iPod to your Music folder and add to iTunes. Additionally, you can assign the new tracks to their own playlist. Requires the iPod be set to "Manually manage music and videos".

Will not work on Windows-formatted iPods.

Not compatible with iPhone/iPod touch.

Add Selected Tracks to iPod and Backup v1.1

Copy the selected iTunes library tracks to iPod and then also to a designated backup playlist, to which the current date and time is appended. Then, if you ever need to erase the iPod (or have otherwise lost iPod tracks), you can easily restore it with the tracks from the backup playlist.

iPod Lyrics To Notes

This script will copy the lyrics of the selected iPod tracks (if the selected iPod tracks contain any lyrics, that is) as Notes to that iPod's "Notes" folder.

Lyrics Notes will be organized in Artist/Album folders in a "Lyrics" folder created in the iPod "Notes" folder. Additionally, a link at the beginning of each Lyrics Note will allow you to play that particular track from the iPod. (The idea for this script was originally suggested by Adam Wiseman at Mac OS X Hints, who created a similar script.)

Show iPod Song Files

This script will show the files of the selected iPod tracks in the Finder (a la iTunes' "Show Song File" menu command).

Note: recent versions of iTunes and iPod software create encoded names for files on the iPod (KLAA.m4a, EVEX.m4p, and so on). The filenames displayed, therefore, will not be the names of the tracks.)
