Stand-Alone Players

Apple's Music app does a terrific job handling an audio file library. It still rips CDs, it's great for tagging tracks and excellent for playlist management. Not to mention its fantastic extensibility with AppleScript. That doesn't mean you always have to use the player they nailed on to it. Try one of my stand-alone playlist players or audio file players once in a while. Could be fun!

Yer Stack

Yer Stack

We used to keep a small stack of CD albums on the desk to listen to during the day. The same ones, over and over. One would get removed occasionally and maybe you'd add another one. Over and over. Week in, week out. Same albums.

What if that quaint way of life never disappeared?

Play Play

Play Play

This playlist player consumes playlist XMLs from the Music app, M3U playlist files and CSV files containing audio file paths. If the files are local, Play Play'll play 'em.

Block Party Weekend

Block Party Weekend

Design your own algorithm that endlessly plays n-number-of-tracks-in-a-row-by-an-artist blocks.

Murph

Murph

Murph wants to be your happy playlist player friend who always tries to delight you.

Kidding! Murph's just a mild-mannered version of Play Play.

Elevendy

Elevendy

Plays an Elevendy: that's what you call it when you play eleven songs in a row that are between 1:30 and 2:40 at random. It's a golfing term.

All players are full-featured Donationware. macOS 26/Tahoe or later required. Notarized by Apple. Made with 100% pure AppleScript.
